DO NOT FORGET THESE VERY IMPORTANT IELTS TIPS!!!

SUCCESS COMES EASY TO PREPARED MINDS. Although the IELTS preparation is usually demanding, it is eventually highly rewarding. As you test today, you may want to keep the following TIPS in mind:

WRITING

LEGIBLE, tidy, and neat handwritings are always the best. Try spacing your writing too.

AVOID using spoken English expressions in your writing tasks. For example, It is better to write “He was behind schedule… “than “he was too late for the meeting…”.

PERFORM a thorough analysis of assigned tasks and quickly prepare the answers mentally

DIVIDE your time smartly, 20 minutes for task 1, and 40 minutes for task 2 (as it is lengthier and carries more marks)

BE careful to write over 150 words for task 1 and over 250 for task 2.

A WORDY essay is one characterized by repeated ideas, phrases and words. Write precise, relevant answers. Avoid writing long paragraphs and sentences

ALWAYS LEAVE some time to proofread your work and make corrections. Do not submit without a thorough revision and proofreading.

ENSURE that you write a conclusion for task 2- VERY IMPORTANT!

LISTENING

FIRST OFF and most important, check if your headphones are working. If not, call the attention of any invigilator.

DO NOT LOSE concentration for 1 second because this will cost you dearly. Yielding to distraction is a luxury no high band scorers can afford.
* Listen attentively to the recording and focus more on answers than understanding everything. Remember that the recording is played only once

UTILISE the time allotted to peruse the questions. Read through them before the recording starts

WHERE REQUIRED, make sure that you write dates, phone numbers, money amounts etc, correctly and in the right format.

YOU CAN TAKE notes on your question paper when listening to the recording. This is especially useful when dealing with very lengthy audio conversations.

ENSURE you write within the given word limit for each question.

DO NOT FORGET to capitalize all your answers as this will keep you safe from making unconscious mistakes.

REVISE and proofread you essay for spelling and grammar errors before submitting. Very IMPORTANT!

READING

IT IS ADVISABLE to read all questions and underline the keywords before reading the text.

NO EXTRA TIME is given to transfer answers to an answers sheet. Thus, do not waste time writing on the question paper.

IF YOU CAN’T understand a question, don’t waste time on it. Rather move onto the next, you can always come back later to finish this

RESPOND CLEARLY, thoughtfully, preferably slowly and fluently.
